OMA Insurance coverage unaffected by Sun Life announcement

TORONTO, Dec. 13, 2021—The Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada announced this morning that it is selling to Canadian Premier the part of its business that provides benefits to OMA members, including group-sponsored extended health-care, dental, disability, professional overhead expense, critical illness, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance. This transaction, which will be complete in early 2023, will not affect OMA members’ insurance set out in their certificates of coverage, and they should not experience a change in support or service due to this announcement.

OMA Insurance is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Ontario Medical Association. We are committed to working with Sun Life and Canadian Premier through this process and will keep members apprised of any developments.
