OMA Insurance makes it easy for you to have the protection you need, when you need it – today, and at every stage of your career.

​As you start residency, your OMA Student disability and/or life insurance coverage will automatically transition to Resident coverage, and:

Premium payments start on the September 1st, if graduating from medical school in April/May
You get a 50% discount on your Resident step-rate premium
You get an additional 25% loyalty discount on step-rate premiums – during your residency and for the first two years of practice – if you paid Student premiums for two consecutive years
Additional benefits are added – no medical proof needed
  • Guaranteed Insurability Benefit (GIB), Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), Own Occupation, and Retirement Protection riders
Both your Disability Coverage and Life insurance may be eligible for the OMA Annual Premium Refund.

Don't have coverage?

It is not too late.  As a final year medical student, you are still eligible to enrol for The Student Special Offer, which will automatically transition to Resident coverage on September 1st:

  • Easy  the application takes only a few minutes to complete
  • No medical evidence  as long as you apply by July 31st
  • No premium  until September 1st
  • A 50% discount  on any Resident step-rate disability premium
