However long your trip, don’t spend a lifetime paying for it.

Your travel essentials should include peace of mind.

As a physician, you know the value of having the right protection when travelling – from anti-viral shots to stomach medication to sunscreen. But it's just as critical to protect your finances, especially considering the staggering costs of a medical emergency outside your home country or your own province – expenses that can affect your finances for years to come.

That's why travel insurance made available through OMA makes a world of sense for both you and your loved ones. After all, travel is meant to enhance your lifestyle, not drain the funds you rely on to maintain it.

What travel insurance plan is right for me?

If you have OMA Health Benefits (including OPIP) you are covered for $2-million emergency out-of-country medical coverage for the first 90 days of travel if you are under age 70 and for the first 30 days of travel, if you are age 70 or over.

If you do not have OMA Health Benefits or need to supplement your existing coverage, you can choose an individual travel insurance product, Medi-Select Advantage® Travel Insurance.

Generally, there are two types of travel insurance: an emergency medical plan or a non-medical plan. Emergency medical plans cover medical emergencies that occur when you are travelling outside your home province or outside of Canada. A non-medical plan includes benefits such as trip cancellation, trip interruption and baggage loss or damage.

Travel with the ease of knowing you'll be covered. OMA members enjoy preferred pricing and convenient access to a wide range of flexible solutions with a variety of features from Medi-Select Advantage® Travel Insurance.

You have different options depending on your needs:

  • Are you looking for an emergency medical or non-medical plan?
  • Are you interested in coverage for a single trip or an annual plan that covers multiple trips?
